Today we had the pleasure of hosting two wonderful guests from Canada on a private shore excursion from the Oceania cruise ship docked in Amsterdam. It was a beautiful day filled with culture, history, and iconic Dutch scenery.
🚘 Amsterdam Highlights Driving Tour
We started the day with a comfortable drive through the heart of Amsterdam, where our guests experienced the city’s vibrant contrasts. We passed through the famous Red Light District, historic Dam Square, the charming Jordaan neighborhood, and the culturally rich Jewish Quarter. As locals, we added stories and context you simply won’t get on large group tours.
🎨 Van Gogh Museum Visit
Next, we visited the world-renowned Van Gogh Museum. Our guests were truly moved by the powerful collection of Van Gogh’s masterpieces and gained a deeper appreciation for the artist’s life and emotional depth.
🌾 Zaanse Schans Windmill Village
Leaving the city, we headed to the postcard-perfect Zaanse Schans — known for its historic windmills, wooden houses, and Dutch crafts. This open-air museum is always a guest favorite, and today was no exception. Our visitors had the chance to see traditional clog-making and taste authentic Dutch cheese.
🍽️ Lunch & Exploration in Volendam
We continued on to the fishing village of Volendam, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch with a waterfront view. The charming streets and local shops made for a relaxing stroll afterward — a perfect way to take in authentic Dutch culture and hospitality.
🚢 Return to Oceania Cruise Ship
After a full and memorable day, we brought our guests back to their Oceania cruise ship right on time, with plenty of great photos and stories to take back home to Canada.
